CONTINENTAL - Elmer Gilbert, 70, of Continental, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born January 7, 1955, in Carter County, KY to the late William Ernest and Lula (Dean) Gilbert. On March 31, 1978, he married Julie Hull, who survives in Continental. He is also survived by a daughter, Elissa (Andy) Deeds of Defiance; two granddaughters: Kaytlin and Lilian Kirkland; four siblings: Noma Lawhorn of Cloverdale, Vernon Gilbert of KY, Homer Gilbert of Defiance, and Gerline Mays of Dupont. He was preceded in death by a son Elmer "Dean" Gilbert; and siblings: Elwood Gilbert, Elmo Gilbert, Woodrow Gilbert, Ernest Gilbert Jr., Elevyn Sparks, Onia Gehring, Delmer Gilbert, and Richard Gilbert. Elmer retired from Campbell Soup in 2014 after working 38 years. He enjoyed playing the harmonica and loved to be funny by making up his own songs.
