Max D. Peter, 96, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024, at CHP Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family. Max was born January 27, 1928, in Hicksville, the son of Clyde and Alda (Headley) Peter. He was a 1946 graduate of Hicksville High School. Max was united in marriage to Barbara J. Koch on December 3, 1950. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hicksville, where he held various offices over the years. Max was a life-long farmer, and a rural mail carrier with the United States Postal Service for 26 years. He was on the Farmer Township Cemetery Board for 29 years. Max proudly served his country in the United States Army from March 5, 1951, until his honorable discharge on January 28, 1957, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the Farmer American Legion Post 137, Sherwood VFW Post 5665, and the former Hicksville VFW Post 3011.
