Richard "Dick" M. Gordon died peacefully at the Community Health Professionals Hospice Inpatient Center in Defiance, Ohio, on June 24, 2024, with his family at his side. Dick was born in Hicksville, Ohio on October 27, 1944, in the old Hicksville Hospital when it was located on Smith Street, to Guy and Georgia (Poth) Gordon. The 1962 Boys Varsity Aces Basketball MVP graduated from Hicksville High School in 1962. On December 21, 1963, he married Janet Darlene Massie in Grace United Methodist Church, Hicksville. Dick obtained his Bachelor's Degree of Education from Defiance College. In 1971 he earned his Master's Degree of Education from St. Francis University, Ft. Wayne. After one year of teaching at Sherwood Elementary School, the rest of his teaching career was spent in Fort Wayne Community Schools, retiring in October of 1999. After his retirement Dick operated and owned Gordon's Saws and Sashes until 2023. Once his teaching career ended and Janet retired they spent their winters in
